<strong>Notes:</strong>I will follow the course textbook fairly closely, using a mixture of slides (highlighting the main points and with nice illustrations) and more in-depth blackboard derivations/proofs in class. Slides used in class with the main ideas are posted here, but the derivations will be given in class on the whiteboard only.

The following slides closely follow Cover and Thomas, selected chapters and topics, with missing proofs done on the whiteboard. Please email me (devroye@uic.edu) if you'd like to use them in your own class.
