CME researchers developed and installed innovative fiber optic sensors for remote monitoring of the masonry vaults of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City Our CME Environmental and Water Resources Engineering Labs do extensive research in the treatment of water and wastewater, the remediation of contaminated soils and sediments, and air pollution control The Geotechnical & Geoenvironmental Engineering Laboratory is used to develop resilient and sustainable structural foundations, earth/earth-retaining structures, landfills, polluted site remediation, and beneficial reuse of waste/recycled materials. CME researchers developed fiber optic sensors for real time measurement of displacements and forces in the stay cables of the Lingoto pedestrian Bridge in Turin, Italy

The Nondestructive Testing and Durability Laboratory in CME is working on developing a nondestructive testing system to monitor damage in aircrafts in real time
