Congratulations to Professors Danilo Erricolo and Sudip Mazumder on being elevated to the rank of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Fellows effective January 2016!

Professor Erricolo has been recognized “for contributions to electromagnetic scattering and associated computational algorithms.” More information about his work and accomplishments can be found on his webpage.

Professor Mazumder has been recognized “for contributions to analysis and control of power electronics systems.” More information about his work and accomplishments can be found on his webpage.

IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for select members with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement. UIC’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has seven IEEE Fellows among its full-time faculty members. Additional members are Rashid Ansari, Mitra Dutta, Derong Liu, Dan Schonfeld, and Michael Stroscio. The department also boasts six members among its professors emeritus, which include Wolfgang-Martin Boerner, Daniel Graupe, James Lin, R. Michael Tanner, Piergiogio Uslenghi and Zheng Yang.

The IEEE also selected Professor Mazumder as a Distinguished Lecturer for IEEE Power Electronics Society starting in 2016, and Derong Liu has been selected as a Distinguished Lecturer for IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) for the period 2016-2018. Distinguished Lecturers are engineering professionals who help lead their fields in new technical developments that shape the global community.
