First seen in the X-Wing novel Rogue Squadron, the astromech droid Whistler has fatefully stood by the side of Corran Horn. Through Corran's adventures as a pilot for Rogue Squadron, to his training as a Jedi Knight in I, Jedi and through the rough times during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion in the New Jedi Order series, Whistler has always been there to lend a claw to Corran and his friends and family.
My 2nd version of Whistler is based off a version I saw done by fellow customizer Brian Stoyle. Brian used as a body that of the F/X R2-D2 and since I was able to find one dirt cheap on the 2000 KB clearance spree I took the opportunity to make a new Whistler. How my new Whistler differs from Brian's is that I chose for the body paint scheme that shown on the cover of the novel, I, Jedi, whereas Brian used a scheme from the comic Union. The only thing I kept from the Union scheme was the dome, I opted not to paint the horizontal lines that the I, Jedi cover shows on Whistler's dome. This new Whistler now stands at the side of my Keiran Halcyon custom as depicted on I, Jedi's cover.
