During the years between the Battle of Endor and the 1st Battle of Coruscant, the New Republic sent Rogue Squadron on a number of missions, most were the usual space battles, but on some occasions Rogues were sent on ground missions. In the story arc Family Ties, Hobbie along with Janson and Plourr Ilo are sent to Corellia to assist in the search of Baron Fel's wife Wynssa Starflare, who happens to be Rogue leader Wedge Antilles' sister. The trio while under the guise of everyday people, wind up getting into one misadventure after another on Corellia including the first time they meet CorSec officer and eventual Rogue pilot Corran Horn.
Hobbie was inspired from the Rogue Squadron Handbook, though in that book we only see Hobbie's top half. So using a cast made by Dave Diaz for the head, I painted that a proper flesh tone and gave Hobbie his brown hair and eyes. For the torso and arms I used those from Bespin Han, repainting the jacket a navy blue as shown in the comics. After looking through Family Ties, we see his whole body but I didn't like the color of his pants which were an ugly red, so using a pair of legs from Commtech Han, I repainted them a light tan and the holster/belt black. I think he turned out fairly well, and that's the barrel of a Bespin Han blaster in Hobbie's right hand, acting as a comlink.
