First Version w/ Repainted Biggs Head Second Version w/ Painted Philippe Head Cast
At the end of the Rogue Squadron comic, The Making of Baron Fel, the former Imperial fighter ace joins the New Republic in its battle against Ysanne Isard and the remnants of his fallen Empire, all in hopes of finding his missing wife. In the story arc Mandatory Retirement, Fel joins Rogue Squadron in an attempt to rescue ousted Imperial leader Sate Pestage from the world of Ciutric. Though unaccustomed to flying an Incom T-65 X-Wing Fighter, Fel performs admirably against the enemy forces arrayed against the Rogues. Sometime after this mission the Rogues were temporarily disbanded and Fel disappeared, only to return some dozen-plus years later, leading the Chiss in a struggle against a deadly force in the Unknown Regions.
As a pilot for the Rogues, Fel wore the jumpsuit he wore as a pilot in the 181st TIE Fighter Group. With the Imperial equipment such as the environmental gear and bulky helmet, standard fighter gear is added. The vest with control chest box and X-Wing helmet. This custom was created by a simple repaint of a Biggs Darklighter figure. All orange spots were repainted a flat black as was the helmet which also had a red stripe painted down the middle. The straps along the legs and pelvis were painted a flat white. Red striping was painted along the sides of the arms and legs. Though hard to tell from the picture above, a goatee was painted on the face of the figure so mimic the one Fel wore.
This figure was updated to take advantage of the head cast of Philippe from the Godzilla line that I received from FFURG's very own Doug Schroeder. Using a nice acrylic flesh paint I found from a company called Plaid Enterprises, I painted the entire head flesh then painted the hair and beard black. The difficult part was the eyes as always, using small pins I painstakingly matched the eyes to the color used predominately in the comic "The Making of Baron Fel". The helmet is from Blastshield Luke, repainted to match the original helmet. Thanx for the cast Doug!!
