Biography


Daniela Tuninetti was born in Carmagnola (Italy) in September 1973.

She received her Master of Science in Telecommunication Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Torino (Italy), in 1998 with final grade 110/110 summa cum laude. Her diploma work, entitled "On Optimum Power Control in Wireless Systems", was supervised by Prof. Ezio Biglieri and his assistants Prof. Giuseppe Caire and Prof. Giorgio Taricco.

After graduation, she worked for five months on a joint research project between Politecnico di Torino and Omintel Italia (now Vodafone) until December 1998.

In January 1999, she joined the Mobile Communication Lab at the Eurecom Institute in Sophia Antipolis (France) where she worked toward her Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Giuseppe Caire. She received her Ph.D. from Telecom Paris in March 2002 for her thesis entitled "On Multi-user Information Theory for Block-Fading Wireless Channels" (see Publications).

In May 2002, she joined the Mobile Communication Lab of Prof. Bixio Rimold at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) where she hold the position of Research Associate.

Since january 2005, she is Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago, IL, USA
